The
Department of Art Conservation educates and trains emerging conservators to be
responsible for the preservation of our shared global cultural heritage. Our
program of study works to integrate the arts, humanities, and sciences with
examination, documentation, conservation treatment, preventive care, and practical
research. At its core, our department underscores the importance of understanding
and interpreting material culture –from archeological artifacts to time-based
media - and sharing outcomes with professional and public
audiences. Our students work closely with UD and Winterthur faculty
members on research projects focused on materials characterization, innovations
in conservation treatment, and in-depth preventive or technical study.
The following posters outline current research and scholarly initiatives shared
recently with professional audiences.
