Recent dissertation topics in our Preservation Studies Doctoral Program exemplify current issues in diversity, conservation history, community outreach, and international studies. These include: LaMar Gayles on the material culture and history of African American jewelry; LaStarsha McGarity on the history and care of HBCU collections; Michele Facini on management and leadership in conservation, exemplified by NIC/Heritage Preservation; Maddie Hagerman on objects conservation history; Mollie Gleeson on the therapeutic potential for conservation following disasters; Anisha Gupta on people-powered conservation and decolonizing collections care, and Aidi Bao on the making and collecting of Guqin (Chinese musical instruments) in late Ming China 1500-1700.
