This two-week woodworking course is specifically designed to empower emerging conservators who identify as historically marginalized with essential skills, knowledge, and community resources to advance their careers. The course will take place at North Bennet Street School, which is known for its award-winning Cabinet & Furniture Making program.

- Hours: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The program will provide participants across a variety of specialties with woodworking tools and training to build skills and confidence in their conservation benchwork. Throughout the program, participants will delve into essential topics such as shop safety, hand tool usage and care, joinery, as well as the operation of woodworking machines. In addition to the core curriculum, we will offer enriching field trips and inspiring guest lectures to help build knowledge and connections.
This unique program is presented by three mission-driven organizations-North Bennet Street School, the Wooden Artifacts Group of the American Institute for Conservation, and The Chairmaker's Toolbox-with key support from a range of sponsors.
