Under the direction of the Head of the Preservation Department, the Head of Conservation Services plans, directs, and executes the daily activities of the unit, supporting the needs for both special and general collections across Stanford University Libraries.

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art seeks the services of a paper conservator for the conservation of 19 linocuts from the Oshogbo Movement in Nigeria. 

The Getty Research Institute advances understanding of the visual arts and their various histories through its Research Library and Special Collections of rare materials and digital resources. GRI seeks an associate conservator to conserve, clean and restore works of art, books, artifacts and other materials in the collection.

Under the supervision of the Curatorial Assistant for the Arts of Africa and the Americas, the Conservation Technician will create custom storage housings for the African and Ancient American collections. These collections are primarily comprised of three-dimensional wooden, metal, or ceramic objects, often with considerable age and fragile parts and surfaces. 1 year term position at 60% time.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Margaret Herrick Library seeks a Conservator to work with collection managers as part of the team overseeing the care of the library’s collection. 

This position is located at the National Park Service, National Capital Region, in Washington, DC.  Independently identifies, sorts, classifies and catalogs to NPS Standards museum objects representing a wide variety of object types and materials. According to NPS Standards, properly handles, moves, transports, cleans, stores, and labels museum objects in the permanent collection. Performs routine cleaning stabilization or preservation of museum artifacts whose treatment does not require a high degree of specialization. Makes recommendations to immediate supervisor for the care of museum collections. 

The Chief Conservator is responsible for overseeing and managing day-to-day activities in the Ringling Museum Conservation Lab, and ensuring that the Museum follows the AIC Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice in its care and conservation of artistic and historic material. 

The National Gallery of Art seeks a candidate to serve as the Head of Science, reporting to the Chief of Conservation.

Under general supervision of the Executive Director, the Chief Conservator is responsible for coordinating the Gilcrease Museum’s collections care program including overseeing the conservation of the Museum’s collections and managing day-to-day activities in the Conservation Lab and Department.
