A post by WUDPAC Assistant Director Joelle Wickens is the first in a new blog series designed to engage conservators in discussions about their field.
The Blog Series is part of whatisconservation.com and will explore three questions: Are we working from a foundation of fear? Are we following the wrong rules? How do we enhance collaboration? The first post, Fear, Rules and Collaboration in Conservation, was written by Dr. Wickens; posts from ten different authors are planned. Visit every Monday for the next 12 weeks to read or listen to the other installments.
The blog evolved as a way to continue the discussion that initially evolved from the talk Who is a conservator? What is conservation? presented by Wickens and WUDPAC Class of 2020 alumna Natalya Swanson, who plan to host periodic Zoom sessions for conservators to connect around these ideas in an environment that allows more immediate feedback. A registration form for these discussions will appear at the bottom of each blog post. A podcast is planned for later this year.
