Lara Kaplan

Lara received her M.S. at the Winterthur/University of Delaware program in Art Conservation in 2003, majoring in objects conservation. While in the program, she developed an interest in ethnographic conservation. She was able to broaden her experience in this area by interning at the Sheldon Jackson Museum in Sitka, Alaska, the Arizona Sate Museum and the National Park Service Western Archeological and Conservation Center, both in Tucson, Arizona. Upon graduating, she held a Mellon Fellowship at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. the year the Museum opened their new building on the National Mall.
Since 2005, Kaplan has been in private practice in Baltimore, Maryland. She works with institutions and private individuals throughout the Baltimore and DC areas. In addition to providing teaching assistance to the Winterthur Art Conservation program, she also has taught a class on the care and handling of art at Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland.
