Iraq Cultural Heritage Project
An exciting new international initiative the Art Conservation Department is proud to be a part of is the Iraq Cultural Heritage Project. The goal of this project is to establish a Conservation and Preservation Institute in Northern Iraq. The University of Delaware, Winterthur and the Walters Art Museum will partner to oversee the development of a well designed on-site (in Erbil) training curriculum formulated to meet the preservation needs of Iraqi collections and cultural institutions. Consulting partners will work with International Relief and Development and the State Department to hire an Institute Director for a two-year position.
