Additional Admission Requirements for Furniture Majors
Joinery (mortise and tenon, dovetailing, etc.)
Surface detailing (inlay/veneer, decorative carving)
Three-dimensional shaping (lathe turning, basic carving)
Tool maintenance and use (general care and sharpening, honing)
Mastery of all skill areas will not be expected, however woodworking affinity, experience, accuracy, precision, and respect for tools must be demonstrated. Actual examples of this work, slides and photographs, and/or hands-on work documenting skill in these areas will be considered for evaluation.
